Crusaders tame wildcats in alarming wins -By LUKE TUCKER (Sun Mar 15, 2009)

ALARM bells sounded at Auburn Basketball Centre on Saturday afternoon as the Central Coast Crusaders youth league teams tamed the Parramatta Wildcats and recorded convincing wins in the both the men’s and women’s round 3 encounters. Crusaders winning 91-57 in the women’s match and the men cracking a tonne in their 107-60 romping of Parramatta.

In the women’s match – Amber Ditterick top scored for the second week in a row with 20 points, whilst she was also strong on the rebounds at both ends of the court. Katherine Kinna, Bree Parsons and Samantha Black contributed 13, 11 and 10 points respectively as the Crusaders simply outclassed their opponents.

The youth girls now have a three week break and won’t be back in action until round 6 (Saturday 18 April) when they take on last year’s grand finalists the Bankstown Bruins at Bridgecoast Stadium, Terrigal.

As for the women’s match – this will mark history for the Crusaders as this is the first time the club has fielded a women’s team in the NSW state basketball league competition. The Crusaders women will be coached by Steve Quigley, who guided the youth league girls to last year’s finals series.
