CAMP DEVELOPMENT PATHWAY:

Basketball NSW conducts a development program for players in the U/16 & U/17 age group (eligible players for these camps are those turning both 15 years old (U/16) and 16 years old (U/17) this year) called the U/16 & U/17 Waratah Program. The Waratah Program is a NSW state wide one, which works towards the development & identification of talented athletes in this age group and also provides development opportunities for coaches.

U/16 & U/17 Waratah Regional Camps
Regional Camps will be conducted over one day for players who are U/16 and U/17 (age category of players this year) and who apply through BNSW forms to attend. From each Regional Camp, a number of Country Boys and Girls and a number of Metro Boys and Girls (players can be either U/16 or U/17 age division) and coaches will be selected to attend the U/16 and U/17 Waratah “All Star” Weekend Camp.

U/16 & U/17 Waratah “All Star” Camp

The U/16 and U/17 Waratah “All Star” Weekend Camp will then be conducted over two days for players who have been selected and invited from the U/16 and U/17 Waratah Regional Camps. Regional Metropolitan and Country athletes will participate and will be allocated to teams for training and games during the course of the camp.
From the U/16 and U/17 Waratah “All Star” Weekend Camp and Tournament, a smaller group of Boys and Girls from Metropolitan and Country (can be either U/16 or U/17 age division) will then be invited to attend the Waratah Hi Performance Camp held over one weekend jointly with the NITCP.
Reserves will also be selected and may be given the opportunity to attend if replacements are required for the Hi Performance Camp.
The Hi Performance Camp will be conducted in conjunction with a special NITCP Camp, with elite guest coaches in attendance to work with the athletes.

NSW NITCP Scholarship holders must participate in this program. They should complete & return this form (without the camp fee), however they will not be required to attend the Regional Camp. They will be required to attend the All Star Camp & Hi Performance Camps.

Selections for 2008 U/17 Metro & Country PCS Development Tour Teams, U/18 ACJBC Country Development Tour Teams & U/18 East Coast Challenge Metro Development Tour Teams will be made at the 2007 U/16 & U/17 Waratah All Star Camp.  These teams compete in a high intensity tournament based competition against select elite development teams from other States. This is the first stage in the identification of players for 2008 NSW State Junior Teams.

U/16 & U/17 Waratah Hi Performance Camp
The BNSW U/16 and U/17 Waratah Hi Performance Camp over one weekend is a specialist camp where elite coaches are invited to attend to work with the invited players.
Past guest coaches have included Karen Dalton, Brian Goorjian, Rob Beveridge, Brendan Joyce, Bill Tomlinson, Tim Mallon and Rex Nottage. Invited athletes will have the opportunity to work with the guest coaches and NITCP athletes and will participate in high intensity training and games during the weekend. It is also expected that 2008 Country & Metro State Team Coaches will be coaching at this camp.

• REGIONAL CAMP HEAD COACH will be recommended by the Basketball NSW Regional Development Head Coach. The camp training program content will be provided by Basketball NSW and forms part of our Development Program.

Snr Waratah Regional Camp Cost $35.00 (GST inclusive) per player

* NB: Camp payment is required to BNSW in advance, NOT at the door on the day.

 (NOTE: Camp may be cancelled if insufficient applicants by closing date – refunds will be given in this case)

There will be NO REFUNDS given for players who fail to attend the camp. Players who have good reason for withdrawing from the camp, such as injury, MUST notify Basketball NSW at least 24 hours PRIOR to the start of the camp to request a refund.

Bring:     Girls Size 6, Boys Size 7 Basketball (with name clearly marked). Water bottle. Reversible Singlet (or Light & Dark Tops) Lunch/Snacks. Strapping tape (if required) Medications (if required).
