NSW REPRESENTATIVE TEAM OPPORTUNITIES
AVAILABLE THROUGH BASKETBALL NSW
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS


General Information
• Basketball NSW conducts representative and team development programs with opportunities for junior players, coaches and referees.


• Junior players who are registered with Basketball NSW and who generally have represented their local Associations in BNSW competitions and individual development programs are eligible to participate in these programs.


• These team development programs are designed to allow players to improve their team skills and game play to enable them to perform better at Association representative level. They will also help players to prepare themselves to try out for the BNSW representative programs.


• Basketball NSW Junior Representative Programs provides major junior representative opportunities for junior basketball players in NSW. These include NSW State Teams that play in the Australian National Championships, NSW Country Development Tour Teams (AJCBC and PCS) and NSW Metropolitan Development Tour Teams

NSW State Representative Teams
NSW Junior State Teams are selected in the following divisions to compete at Australian National Championships conducted by Basketball Australia:
Under 16 Metropolitan Boys and Girls
Under 16 Country Boys and Girls
Under 18 Metropolitan Boys and Girls
Under 18 Country Boys and Girls
Under 20 Combined NSW Men and Women
PWID (Players With an Intellectual Disability)

NSW Metropolitan Tour Representative Teams
NSW Junior Metropolitan Tour Teams are selected in the following divisions to compete at the East Coast Challenge Tournament (ECCT) or equivalent and the Pacific Coast Slam (PCS):
Under 14 Metro Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to ECCT (or equivalent tournament)
Under 15 Metro Boys and Girls – 1 team each to PCS
Under 16 Metro Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to ECCT
Under 17 Metro Boys and Girls – 1 team each to PCS
Under 18 Metro Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to ECCT

NSW Country Tour Representative Teams
NSW Junior Country Tour Teams are selected in the following divisions to compete at the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup (ACJBC) and the Pacific Coast Slam (PCS):
Under 14 Country Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to AJCBC
Under 15 Country Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to PCS
Under 16 Country Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to AJCBC
Under 17 Country Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to PCS
Under 18 Country Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to AJCBC

Selection to BNSW Representative Team Programs

Coaches & Managers
Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Managers of NSW Representative Teams are selected through an application and selection process conducted by Basketball NSW.
Persons interested in these roles should refer to the State Teams section of the BNSW web site for more detailed information.


Players

Metropolitan Tour Teams
Present methods of selection (2005) are as follows:
Under 14 Metro Boys and Girls – 2 teams each selected from U/13 MDP (top age players)
Under 15 Metro Boys and Girls – 1 team each selected from U/15 MDP (bottom age players)
Under 16 Metro Boys and Girls – 2 teams each selected from U/15 MDP (generally top age players but some bottom age may be included)
Under 17 Metro Boys and Girls – 1 team each selected from U16 & U/17 Senior Waratah All Star Camp (bottom age players)
Under 18 Metro Boys and Girls – 2 teams each selected from U16 & U/17 Senior Waratah All Star Camp (generally top age players but some bottom age may be included)

Country Tour Teams
Under 14 Country Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to AJCBC selected from Country Tour Trials
Under 15 Country Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to PCS selected from Country Tour Trials
Under 16 Country Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to AJCBC selected from Country Tour Trials
Under 17 Country Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to PCS selected from Country Tour Trials
Under 18 Country Boys and Girls – 2 teams each to AJCBC selected from Country Tour Trials
