NSW Metropolitan Development Tour Selection:
All MDL age programs lead to another opportunity for NSW Metropolitan development representation.
Under 12 Metro Teams: - The Under 11 MDP teams are not subject to selection for Tour teams. All U/11 MDP teams will become U/12 Metro Teams (keeping their same teams and playing tops) in January 2008 and will compete against each other in a mini-tournament format played as the curtain raiser games before Razorbacks NBL games (boys) and Sydney Uni Flames WNBL games (girls- yet to be confirmed)
Under 14 Metro Tour Teams: – at the conclusion of 2007 U/13 MDP, two teams of players plus reserves each of boys and girls will be selected for the January 2008 U/14 NSW Metro Development Tour Program.
The Under 14 Teams will travel to Melbourne to compete in the Eltham/Dandenong Tournament at the end of January. Exact are dates to be advised.
U/14 Practice Games: It is hoped that practice games will be arranged for U/14 Metro Tour teams to play each other prior to NBL Games (Boys) and WNBL games (girls) in mid-January. More information about this will be released as it becomes available.
Under 15 Metro Tour Teams: – at the conclusion of 2007 U/15 MDP, one team of bottom age players plus reserves each of boys and girls will be selected for the January 2008 U/15 NSW Metro Development Tour Program. They will compete in the Pacific Coast Slam Tournament at Port Macquarie.
Expected dates of play at present (yet to be confirmed) are Monday 21st January to Friday 26th January 2008.
Under 16 Metro Tour Teams: – at the conclusion of 2007 U/15 MDP, two teams of players plus reserves each of boys and girls will be selected for the January 2008 U/16 NSW Metro Development Tour Program. These teams will play compete in the East Coast Challenge Tournament against visiting teams from Melbourne that have been selected from the Victorian Metropolitan Development Programs. Expected dates of play are yet to be confirmed (mid January 2008)
Under 17 Metro Tour Teams: – BNSW has observed and considered metro players at the U/17 Senior Waratah All Star Camp. One team of bottom age players plus reserves each of boys and girls will be selected and offered the opportunity to represent in the January 2008 U/17 NSW Metro Development Tour Program. Selected players are expected to be announced on the BNSW web site during September 2007. They will compete in the Pacific Coast Slam Tournament at Port Macquarie. Expected dates of play at present (yet to be confirmed) are Monday 21st January to Friday 26th January 2008.
Under 18 Metro Tour Teams: –– BNSW has observed and considered metro players at the U/17 Senior Waratah All Star Camp. One to two teams (number of teams to be confirmed) of top age players plus reserves each of boys and girls will be selected and offered the opportunity to represent in the January 2008 U/18 NSW Metro Development Tour Program. Age Groups:
In 2008, the Metro Development Tour Program will be conducted in the age groups as follows:
Aged Under 12 in 2008(Born 1997 & 1998)
Aged Under 14 in 2008(Born 1995)
Aged Under 15 in 2008(Born 1994)
Aged Under 16 in 2008(Born 1993)
Aged Under 17 in 2008(Born 1992)
Aged Under 18 in 2008(Born 1991)
Uniforms:
Under 12 Teams will stay in their same teams from MDP and retain and use their same MDP team tops.
All other Metro Tour Players selected will be provided with their own team uniforms to be worn for tournament games.
Coaches:
Under 11 MDL boys and girls coaches will stay with their own allocated team when they become U/12’s in January and will coach them in the National League curtain raiser tournament games.
NSW Metropolitan Tour team coaches and assistant coaches for all other age group teams will be selected by BNSW from Metropolitan Development Program coaches or from NSW State Team coaching staffs, with the possibility that some limited invitations may be offered to other coaches from outside these NSW Metropolitan programs.
