Basketball NSW has developed a new delivery structure for the Integrated Level 2 Basketball Coaches Course. It is no longer necessary for coaches to initially register as a member of the whole Level 2 course. They will be able to complete the five components of the course quite independently, at their own pace.
The course has now been broken up into five separate, independent BNSW Grade 2 Coaching Courses. Suitably qualified coaches may register for, pay for and undertake each of these courses as they are offered. Once an independent BNSW Grade 2 Course is successfully completed, they will be provided with a certificate of attainment for that course. To gain their Level 2 Basketball Coaching Certificate and Accreditation, they must then submit certificates of attainment to BNSW for all of the five BNSW Grade
2 Courses that make up the Level 2 Coaching Course, along with the application form and fee.
The Modules that make up the Level 2 Course are:
Basketball NSW Grade 2 Coaching Course Cert 1:
Coaching and Developing the Individual and Team
Basketball NSW Grade 2 Coaching Course Cert 2:
Coaching the Game and Role of the Coach
Basketball NSW Grade 2 Coaching Course Cert 3:
Principles of Training, Planning and Sports Medicine
Level 2Basketball NSW Grade 2 Coaching Course Cert 4:
Science in Coaching
Basketball NSW Grade 2 Coaching Course Cert 5:
BNSW Grade 2 Practical Basketball Coaching
CONDUCT OF LEVEL 2 COURSE COMPONENTS
The demand from coaches for places at the integrated Level 2 Certificate Component Courses is not generally great enough to allow BNSW to run the course components with great frequency. This is because of the large amount of content in the course, the level of work involved to meet course requirements and the post Level 1 coaching experience required to enable coaches to undertake the course. Therefore, it is
generally only viable to conduct the component Grade 2, Certificate 1 & 2 courses every 12 to 18 months. To offset this, and allow coaches to commence components of the course at any time that suits them, the Grade 2, Certificate 3 & 4 components are available by correspondence. Caches who meet the course pre-requisites may enrol and undertake the correspondence Grade 2, Certificate 3 or 4 at any time that suits
them.
The Grade 2, Certificate 5 involves compliance with the practical coaching requirements of the integrated Level 2 Course, and can be completed through meeting those requirements through practical coaching with your local association representative program (see more detailed course information that follows).
Generally, availability of the integrated Level 2 Coaching Course component Certificates may be summarised as follows:
