Basketball NSW Blue Star Participation Camps - run in partnership with Local Basketball Associations

These camps are conducted in various age groups, at various times and at various venues throughout the state and provide participation and development opportunities for junior players, coaches, referees and club supporters/officials.

Camps do not lead to selection for talent identification pathways like the BNSW Waratah Development Programs, rather the emphasis is placed on participating, having fun, acquiring individual skills and learning to play the team game.

Opportunities are provided for junior players to learn more about how to improve your playing.  Similarly, for young people, parents and adults, opportunities are provided to learn more about running junior basketball teams – and in particular, how to improve your coaching, your refereeing and/or how to run the bench and undertake scoring duties.  These camps are just the thing for parents wanting to learn more about how to assist their children’s

club teams.

There is no selection process required by participants to attend these camps, attendance is simply by completing and submitting the application form to BNSW.  Member associations should find that encouraging their members to attend these camps, where they get the opportunity to learn and participate, will greatly strengthen the knowledge and skills and resources of volunteers in their local association junior competitions and programs.

For players, the typical format of thse one camps consists of a morning skills session followed by afternoon games.

During camps, coaches, referees, and score bench personnel are provided with development clinics and mentored, as part of the commitment of this BNSW Program to provide participation and development for those roles that support and manage the game and supervise and teach the children.

Camps are open to all boys and girls within the nominated age group of a particular camp, including school children and players in local competitions.

These camps are also open to all coaches, referees, and score bench personnel to assist them with their development.  Camps are designed to enable all participants to learn and apply skills in an environment where participation, development and enjoyment are the main focus.
