BNSW Aussie Hoops Coach course
This practical course is suitable for all parents, teachers, volunteers and beginner coaches wishing to teach children basketball skills and/or coach a team. Upon completion of this course, participants will have an understanding of how to conduct skills clinics, basic training sessions and how to coach a team.
Course Content
Topics covered during this course are:
- Aussie Hoops - School Clinics
- Team Practice Session
- Game Coaching
In the Aussie Hoops Session, participants are shown (and participate in) methods of teaching children skills through a range of fun games.
In the Team Practice Session, participants are shown methods of teaching teaching individual and team skills.
In this Game Coaching session (theory), the presenter leads participants through a range of strategies with just some being: your game plan, substitutions, player foul trouble, playing with a lead, playing with a losing margin, time outs, match ups, and making effective changes during the course of the game.
How is the course presented?
This two and a half hour practical course is presented by Basketball NSW at both metropolitan and country regional venues throughout the year as required.
What resources accompany this course?
Each participant is provided with a course workbook including hand outs and practice drills. An Aussie Hoops Coaching Manual is also available ($35.00)
